Dig out the trenches carefully. Do not remove too much soil at once as this can cause the sides of the trenches to collapse. If the trench walls do collapse do not worry as they can be filled back in when firming in the plants.

  The trenches need to be dug out evenly to the depth of the plastic troughs.
9 When all the trenches are dug out (or the section you are doing) remove the troughs and place the plants into the trenches ensuring that the roots touch at each join. Gently bending the lengths of plants where necessary.
