Pin down the corners and make sure that the mat is positioned correctly.

Pin down the mat, using the pins and mallet provided, putting 1 pin through each dot marked on the mat.

Cut out the design along the white lines. You may choose to only do a small section at a time or the whole design at once. The pins will hold the rest of the mat in place.

Discard the cut out matting.

Start to dig out the planting trenches by pushing the spade around the edges of the design. This helps the trench wall to stay intact while digging.
